Pope heads to immigrant father’s hometown for birthday party
SALEM – U.S. President Donald Trump will be heading to California’s Bay Area for a fundraising gala for his former boss’s father.
Trump is expected to appear at a birthday party for Frank J. Molinaro, a Democrat who served in the U.S. House with him from 1985 to 2013. Molinaro lost to GOP Rep. Tom MacArthur in the last election.
The event will be held at Molinaro’s private home in Chalk Hill, near San Francisco. The president will be greeted by Molinaro’s wife and daughter in the driveway, according to a news release from the family.
The Molinaro family has been in a legal battle with the son-in-law of the president for years over a home that the elder Molinaro sold to his son.
The senior Molinaro sold the house in 2012 to the president’s son Eric, but a court ruled at the time that the $2.9 million sale was a “fraudulent transfer.”
