Liz Cheney endorses Democrat Abigail Spanberger in toss-up Virginia race against Yesli Vega.

Liz Cheney has endorsed Democrat Abigail Spanberger in the hard-fought Virginian gubernatorial race as a way to help conservative women.
Cheney announced support Thursday for Spanberger, a first-term congresswoman who is a member of the House Natural Resources Committee who has been a fervent conservative for years.
“Abigail Spanberger is committed to protecting our environment, our communities, and our families. She will keep strong, smart, and focused on our state and our country,” she said in a statement released by her campaign.
Cheney said she has also endorsed Republican nominee Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell. He has been the favorite in the race since entering the race in October.

Cheney has not only endorsed Spanberger but also backed state Sen. Jill Vogel, R-Chesterfield, and former state Sen. Jim Kyle, R-Union City, in their campaigns. She also has endorsed former state Sen. David Holt, R-Russell in the race, though she did not disclose Holt’s candidacy to the media.
“I have supported Gov. McDonnell and Abigail Spanberger before they announced their campaigns, in part because I believe they have the best chance of ending our nation’s leadership in Washington and taking our state back for the common good,” she said in her statement. “I have encouraged them to pursue every opportunity to win this hard-fought race, and am hopeful they will do just that, even with the challenges posed by Bob McDonnell and his allies.”
