Cher spotted with man half her age, joining long list of Hollywood lovers including Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer, says she wants to stop “slut-shaming” women with a new magazine campaign.
The 26-year-old actress – who is the only American to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress – was caught holding hands with 39-year-old British actor Oliver Reid, who plays her long-term boyfriend Adam in ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’.
The pair were spotted on a night out together after Cher’s recent appearance at the London premiere of ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’, and it was only after the event that the two realised they had been dating in secret for two years.
The pair’s romance was not widely known in Hollywood until after the first Twilight film was released, and Cher’s manager said she is “deeply upset by the public attention” the relationship has attracted.
Cher was spotted at a London cinema screening of the movie, where she reportedly gave the OK for Reid to be allowed to date her: “We weren’t going to let her go unchaperoned, and it worked. Allowed him to spend time with her,” she said.
“He’s a wonderful person. He’s a great actor. She’s gorgeous, elegant, smart, but he’s also a very nice guy.”
According to People, Cher has always wanted to date someone her own age, and has recently spoken of getting her own man, despite being the only major celebrity to date a man half her age.
‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ hit cinemas in the UK today, September 28, but you need to see the movie to find out how Cher might end up with boyfriend-to-be Reid, who plays Adam to her Edward Cullen.
